The government is actively addressing urban challenges, aiming for robust income sources and improved infrastructure and social services. Efforts are underway to modernize revenue systems, lessen reliance on subsidies, and establish sustainable income streams and borrowing capabilities. Understanding the present and future urban needs is crucial. Our office is tasked with enhancing city revenue systems through a participatory, efficient model, empowering cities for stable, inclusive, and sustainable growth. We're collaborating with stakeholders to create an enabling environment.

To achieve this, we're analyzing current revenue streams, conducting surveys, and focusing on capacity building aligned with national policies and global best practices. Sample city implementations will inform broader strategies, ensuring sustainable revenue systems. Additionally, a specialized sector, previously overlooked nationally, is being organized to operate independently from illicit practices. Institutional setups for revenue collection, city management, and finance are being established.

Recognizing the significance of income from the land sector, efforts are directed towards enhancing urban land institutions and leveraging modern technology. Six major revenue sources have been identified, each undergoing legal structuring and piloting in select cities. Modernizing land archives is a primary focus for our office.

I urge all stakeholders to contribute to municipal revenue system development, vital for city infrastructure and governance enhancement.
